The New Kid on the Block

Author: Jack Prelutsky
Illustrator: James Stevenson
Awards: none
Grade: All Level

Summary:
A collection of silly poems that explore a very imaginative world that has jellyfish stew, a man trapped to a mirror and a case of the underwater wibbles!

Evaluation:
This is the perfect book for any classroom to get your students to love and appreciate poetry. I would read one poem from this collection every day to my students because they are so silly and I already love sharing these poems with my family. There is a range of long poems that take up two pages and some that are only a few lines, which gives the teacher flexibility to choose one based on the time that he/she has wether it is in between activities as a fun transition or to have students spend more time analyzing a longer poem. Regardless this is a must have for any classroom!
