The Pied Piper's Magic

Summary:
A kind young elf offers work to a lonely grumpy witch, Elbavol, who says she cannot pay for his services. He decides to clean up her house for free to which she appreciates him and grants him with a magical pipe. He realizes that when he plays the pipe he can create and alter things if he plays the word and then the word backwards. He takes the rats that infest the town and turns them into stars. The grand duke threatens to imprison him so he turns the stars back into rats to take the duke to the Elbavol. He plays her name backwards which spells lovable which marks the first time both the duke and witch were happy. They get married and the young elf becomes the new duke which he generously gives the title to the parents of the town.

Evaluation:
This is such a sweet sweet book! I love how the author plays with words in the story, which will be a fun teaching topic in which students will then get to add to things the pied piper does by morphing words to create new ones. I would have this available for my students to read in my class library, as well as use for a read aloud to promote kindness in my classroom, even when there is no reward.
