Feathers for Lunch
Author: Lois Ehlert
Illustrator: Lois Ehlert
Awards: None
Grade Level: Pre K-1st
Summary:
A cat gets out for the day and tries to catch some birds for a great lunch. Because of the bell that he has on his collar, the birds know when he is approaching and they fly away, leaving him only the feathers that fell off of them for lunch.
Evaluation:
I would use this book in my class because it is a cute silly poem that my students will love! I think is a good source to use in order to introduce poetry to young learners and influence them to love it rather than be intimidated by them. I would also teach my students about rhyming words and how sometimes poems have rhyming patterns and see if my students can point them out.
