Back to the Future
Author: Adaptation from Robert Zemeckis and Bob Gale
Illustrator: Kim Smith
Awards: none
Grade Level: 2nd-5th
Summary:
Marty Mcfly uses the time machine that his friend Doc Brown created, but he ends up getting stuck in the year 1955 where he meets his parents when they were teenagers. He has to find Doc Brown and in the past to help him get back to the year 1985. He also must make sure that his parents fall in love with each other before him and his siblings completely disappear. He does this successfully by getting the energy he needed by a bolt of lightening which allows him to get back to the year 1985, where he returns to a happy and loving family.
Evaluation:
This is a case where I would have to say the movie is better than the book; however, that's probably due to how simplified it is. I would have this book in my class for students to read along with some other pop classics to keep reading and imagination fun for my students , as well as giving them opportunities to read about things that they are already familiar with because of tv shows and movies.
