Summary: The spy Nathan Hale is at his hanging awaiting his execution when he begins to tell the story of the events that are to come beginning in 1861 with the election of Abraham Lincoln. He gets their attention with the first two iron ships of the civil war, the Merrimack and the Monitor. He explains the deaths that occurred and how the north won and led to Abraham Lincoln being elected for another term with the end of slavery.
Evaluation: I could not get through this graphic novel. It seemed all over the place and I can see how some students would love to learn history through graphic novels, but I found it overly distracting. I will definitely have graphic novels live these in my classroom, but it will be for students to read during free reading time.
