Joseph had a Little Overcoat

Author/ Illustrator: Simms Taback
Awards: Caldecott
Grade Level: K-3rd

Summary: Joseph had an overcoat that he always wore, when it became old he made it into a jacket and then a vest and then a scarf and then a tie until he finally turns it into a button. He then loses the button and had nothing else to make so he wrote a book about the experience to show that you can always make something out of nothing.

Evaluation: This was a super cute book! I loved how much creativity there was and I appreciated being the cut outs where you could see how each new piece of clothing was created from the previous garment. I would love to have this book in my classroom to teach about sequencing in a fun way.
